Sunday Thoughts + A Weekend Recap

Happy Sunday
Can you believe that today is the first of March, it's only a matter of time before flowers start to bloom. We're supposed to get snow today but I remembered the saying, "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb" so I'm hoping warm weather is on the horizon soon.
Since I took a state test this weekend I've been thinking a lot about my career. I was so lucky to get hired in the tax department a little over a year ago because it can lead to so many opportunities. As much as I like this job, I'm starting to get a little antsy and I'm hoping soon I will be making a career move to a higher position that will lead to better financial gain. I think it's important to always want to better yourself and make moves when you can even though change can be difficult sometimes...

This weekend...
  • Friday night was a laid back night for me. My friend Meg came over and we started marathoning the new season of House of Cards. I am quite happy to have Frank and Claire Underwood back in my life.
  • Saturday morning  was up super early because I had to take a Tax Department test. Basically every few months the state offers a variety of Civil Service Exams and when you take them you get put on a variety of lists. When different departments have job openings they go to the lists and start picking people off those lists who do well and choose them for interviews. So it's important I take as many tests as possible because it can lead to a variety of job opportunities, however it's not very fun waking up early on a Saturday to take them, especially when they don't start on time... NYS can be unorganized sometimes.
  • Post test I ran some errands, I'm in the process of switching banks and transferring over car loans which has become more of a process than I originally thought it would be.
  • Saturday night I went over to my Aunt Pat's house to celebrate my cousin Logan's 17th birthday. My Aunt Pat always puts out an amazing spread of food, so much so that I rarely eat dinner because I gorge myself on appetizers. She is definitely who I inspire to be when it comes to cooking, she is just so talented and creative in the kitchen, it comes so naturally to her.
  • Today will be a laid back Sunday, my favorite. I'm planning on catching up on the shows building up on my DVR, taking blog pictures for the week and making creamy crock-pot chicken for dinner tonight.
What did you do this weekend?
xoxo

  1. I did a retreat thing with the youth group at my church! Lol I'm so tired! This is one of my favorite quotes. You will end up where your supposed to be, but you have to work for it. It's not going to be handed to you on a silver platter.
