 My name is Alex and I'm a bedding addict.

My addition to bedspreads has been prevalent in my life since I was in high school. I tend to change by bedding a few times a year depending on seasons and despite the fact that I have more sheet/comforter sets than I know what to do with, I can't pass up a good deal.

Last weekend I was stumbling through Macy's (a common sight) and I discovered Martha Stewarts new bedding collection, Whim. Whim was created by Martha "for people who love to show off their personal style through their home decorating. It combines cheerful colors, simple yet sophisticated patterns, and easy-to-care-for materials." Martha Stewart is known for her quality bedding but I always felt that her designs had a more mature feel to them. Whim adds a youthful look to her typical designs with preppy prints and fun designs that turns your bedding into a conversation piece.

The Whim collection is being sold at Macy's and unlike some of Martha Stewarts other collections these sets are incredibly affordable. I picked up the above striped comforter and matching striped sheets for $60(!!) with coupons, which is almost unheard of for quality bedding. All of Whim's sets are currently on super sale and there are so many great prints for spring.

Sweet Dreams

As much as I complain about the cold months, I did jump at the opportunity to finally switch over to my winter bedding. My bed is my comfort zone and on a cold night I always look forward to cozying up in bed with Misa and Netflix. Side note: you have no idea how many takes and treats it took to get Misa to look at the camera for these shots. Doesn't she look ginormous in this photo? Despite being a monster she sure is cute. 

Okay. Back to the bedding. In the winter I always put on flannel sheets. Some people hate flannel sheets because they get super hot while they sleep but I'm the complete opposite, I sleep like a mummy all wrapped up in all my blankets. I even have a heated mattress pad that I turn on before I get into bed so I never have to get into a cold bed during winter (don't laugh, upstate New York winters can be rough!). I know many of you love the Pottery Barn Teen bedding and I totally agree but for the winter I'm obsessed with the Martha Stewart Collection. Martha makes a variety of plaid quilts, sheets and comforters that wrap you in warmth for those cold winter nights. You know when you were a kid you had Christmas sheets, well Martha makes holiday sheets for adults that put you in the holiday spirit without being childish. 

I bought this specific collection last winter during a huge sale (I ended up getting the quilt for $30, thank you Macy's coupons!). But, this year the Martha Stewart collection has a very similar quilt along with plenty of other comforters, decorative pillows and sheets to choose from (so many amazing plaid prints). Martha's collections are great quality too, she can be a little pricey sometimes but it's definitely worth the extra money, the flannel sheets I own get softer with every wash! Good news is, all the bedding I'm featuring below is all on sale and you can get an additional discount by looking online for coupons!

This faux fur throw at the bottom of my bed is Charter Club and I received it as a Christmas gift last year. Misa gets very confused by furry blankets, she always rubs her face in it thinking it's an animal!

When looking at these photos I'm very aware of how plain my walls are. 

Looks like I need to invest in some wall art ASAP.

Getting Organized

The past two days were all about getting organized. I was finally forced to swap out my summer clothes for more appropriate fall and winter attire which is an all day affair. Honestly, next spring if anyone wants to volunteer to come over and switch over my clothes and organize my closet I will gladly pay them because its nothing more than a headache for me. The main problem is that my closet isn't very big and the amount of stuff I have just doesn't fit appropriately (I know, #firstworldproblems). I think that if I was a man my closet would be the perfect size but because as a female I also have to find room for large handbags, scarves, shoes, clutches, belts, etc that I just don't have the space I wish I did. Anyways, I successfully transitioned all of my clothes over and replaced my flip flops with boots, which made me shed a tear haha. 

Next I wanted to tackle my jewelry. Normally I keep my jewelry pretty organized because I bought some great displays that allow me to easily access bracelets, necklaces and rings but the past few weeks I've made a mess of my display. I'm pretty sure that more than once I threw off whatever jewelry I was wearing and it had gotten to the point that things were starting to get tangled. It took me all of 10 minutes to hang everything back up the way it should be, but it made such a difference! I definitely recommend investing in jewelry organization displays because it keeps everything in order, plus it's pretty to look at!

Let's Go To The Beach

At this point in my life I've decided that although it's important to set long and short term attainable goals, it's still fun to dream big. While sitting in my cubicle I like to imagine the vacations I will one day take and the home I will own because it helps keep me motivated and working hard. Sometimes these crazy big dreams can sound silly, but I think it's important to remind ourselves that nothing is impossible. Otherwise, life would be boring! Remember when I wrote a post a couple weeks ago about not settling in your everyday life? Well I think the idea of not settling also should apply to dreams, why can't we have it all... I know I won't stop until I do.

One of my big dreams is to one day own a beach house. As you all know I'm a lover of all things sun/water related. Being outside surrounded by water in the summer time is my favorite place to be and although each year my family takes a trip to the beach, it still has be longing for the day that I can head to the beach whenever I want (and even live next to it!). So of course, when I day dream about my crazy plans I look to Pinterest to only encourage my imagination. I started looking at beach house decorating ideas for the house that I don't have (does that make me crazy?!). I wanted to share some of my future beach house decorating idea's with all of you. They obviously include plenty of whites, teals, and blues to match the beach view I one day hope to have.

Greek Inspired Decor

The outlets were in full on spring/summer mode this weekend, there were shorts, sandals and plenty of dresses on display at all of the stores. So despite the fact there is currently over 2 feet of snow outside my window I have warm weather on my mind. One of my dreams (that I hope to one day make a reality) is to own a beach home. I'm not sure exactly where I want that beach house to be located, but I do know that I want an beach view so that ocean breeze can flow through the windows of my home all day long. Unfortunately, I can't really decorate an upstate New York home with beach themes (it just seems out of place), but I love the look of a home completely decorated in white and blue. Also a white color scheme doesn't stay white for long when Misa and her dirty paws are around. 

This color scheme is why I've been such a fan of Greek decor. First of all, traveling to Mykonos Greece is on my bucket list because it serious looks like one of the most beautiful places in the world. Those clean white homes surrounded by the crystal blue water is just breath taking and I would love to have a home inspired by that amazing view. So of course when I am looking for any inspiration, I go to my favorite place to find it...Pinterest. As soon as I searched 'Greek Decor' I found so many beautiful home ideas with a Greek theme, perfect for my future dream beach house.
