Florals and Baubles

Before I begin I need to tell you how much I love this long necklace that I picked up from Baublebar last week. It's going to be my go-to necklace this summer and I want to buy it in every color (do I go with periwinkle or mint next?!). It was the perfect accessory for this bright floral top that I picked up on sale at Lord and Taylor a few weeks ago. For real guys, I actually can't wait for my weekends to be spent at the pool because its going to save me so much money because I won't be in the mall. Plus with this great weather, I'm on my way to a great summer tan!

Tonight I'm headed to dinner with friends and it's the perfect hump day activity to give me enough motivation to get through the rest of the work week. Speaking of the new job, I feel like I'm slowly grasping all the information they're throwing at me. I'm working on a new contract, my first one I will see out from start to finish which is super exciting. I think once I get through this first one, I'll be able to better understand the process and hopefully get a little more independence. Since this is a two year traineeship, I'll have two years to work closely with my supervisors to get me fully prepared for this job, but I really want to grasp things as quickly as possible because there is a lot of information to soak in and I want to be able to fully contribute to take some of the pressure off my co-workers.

New Recipe: Grilled Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Happy Tasty Tuesday!

So I tried something last week, I made a pizza on the grill. Normally when I make homemade pizza, I put it in the oven like a normal person, but last week I was feeling adventurous and I hear all these different things you can cook on a grill and I decided to be a little adventurous and try something new. One thing I learned is that you have to keep a close eye on it because the bottom can easily burn if you don't watch out but other than that, this was a great way to keep the oven off in the hot weather. FYI I used a Pampered Chef pizza stone to cook the pizza on.

Ingredients:

• 1 package of pizza dough
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
• 1 cup buffalo wing sauce
• 1 cup blue cheese dressing
• 1 package of shredded mozzarella cheese
• 1 small red onion, chopped
• 2 stalks celery, chopped

Directions:

• Pour 1 tbsp olive oil on pizza stone and spread evenly. Take pizza dough out of packaging and stretch to cover the pizza stone.
• Shred rotisserie chicken and put in a plastic ziploc bag. Pour 1/2 cup of wing sauce into bag and shake until chicken is completely covered in sauce.
• Spread blue cheese on top of dough, as if it were pizza sauce, leaving the crust without any blue cheese on it.
• Spread chicken on top of blue cheese so that the chicken is evenly distributed on the pizza. 
• Chop red onion and celery and place on pizza.
• Cover pizza with shredded mozzarella and then drizzle remaining wing sauce on top.
• Grill over medium low heat for 15-20 minutes or until dough is cooked and crispy (**pay attention so bottom of dough doesn't burn**)
• Enjoy!

Weekend Wear: Silky Stripes

So.

 It's Monday again.

Despite not having any crazy plans this past weekend, I sure was busy. On Saturday I did find time to sneak over to the pool for a few hours and lie in the sun for a bit which brought me so much joy, you have no idea. I have waited 8 long months to plop myself on a raft and lounge in the water and I couldn't be happier that the warmer weather has finally arrived. 

Mother's Day was pretty chaotic as well. I got brunch with my mom at our local diner and then spent the day with her running various errands. It wasn't a very relaxing Mother's Day together but at least we were able to spend in together. Since we had such a big breakfast, we decided to skip lunch and dinner and just go out for ice cream instead! Pretty sure ice cream for dinner should be a mandatory thing in the summer, plus it gave me a night off from cooking!

It was so hot and muggy yesterday that I was grateful that I had the outfit pictured above on. First, give me a moment to rave about these shorts that I bought at Francesca's a few weeks ago. They are so comfortable because not only are they elastic waist (hence the reason I wore them for breakfast and ice cream) but they're made of this silky material that is so soft. I'm really loving the fun print trend that I've seen in so many shorts for summer. I think they give them a dressier look and I could definitely see myself wearing these shorts out at night because they can definitely be dressed up with a pair of wedges and a nice top. Francesca's had so many great affordable options so I suggest you check out your local shop.

Sunday Thoughts

Happy Mother's Day friends,

I've been so busy today hanging out with my mom today that I didn't even have time to write a blog post. I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend and got the chance to spend time with the important women in your life. My mom is my best friend, my confidant, my road trip partner and my shopping buddy. I couldn't be more thankful for her and all that she does for me.

Happy Saturday!

My good mood vibes are through the roof right now because for the first time since last September I was able to lie in the pool! I have never been happier because being in the sun in my happy place, it's been a long winter and it felt so good to have the warm weather hit my face. Plus, I think the fact that I will be trading my days at the mall for floating in a pool might make my wallet a little fuller, which isn't a bad thing! Mothers Day Gift Guide

In case you've been living under a rock, Mothers Day is on Sunday which means you only have two more days to pick up a gift. My mom's birthday was yesterday which means every year I have to find two good gifts to buy her in a matter of a few days span. It's not difficult because my mom is easy to shop for but it does make me think long and hard about how I want to spoil her on her "Mom/Birthday week." 

This year I went big on the birthday gift, getting her a Sirius XM radio and a 1 year subscription for her car so on Mother's Day I'm sticking to her basic favorites: shoes and candles. A few weekends ago she picked up a pair of floral sandals in Macy's that she wanted but was going to wait for a sale so I decided to surprise her with those sandals just in time for the warm weather. Also my mom goes through candles like crazy, she always has them burning in the house so a few scents from Bath & Body Works seemed like an obvious Mothers Day choice. On top of gifts I plan on making a delicious breakfast for her, which is a double win because I get to eat some too!

The New Summer Accessory: Tattoos

We all know by now that I'm a sucker for a good accessory, especially statement jewelry. However, with summer right around the corner I will be spending a whole lot of my free time somewhere near the water whether it be a pool or the beach. That means the probability of me leaving the house with jewelry on is slim because I don't want my jewelry to get lost or damaged from being in the water. This is where Flash Tattoo's come in, it's jewelry inspired temporary tattoos that became the answer to my dilemma.

 Flash Tattoos are perfect to the beach, the pool, parties, festivals and concerts and they take minutes to apply. Remember when you were a kid and you would get those temporary tattoos out of the gum ball machines at the grocery store? You would place them on your skin, add warm water, wait two minutes and peel off the paper to reveal a flower, peace sign, or character tattoo that would last a couple days and eventually wash off. Well this is the exact same concept but instead of child prints you have gorgeous metallic patterns that add a little personality to your summer wardrobe.
